If you would like to submit an event that will be happening at your church or for your organization, you can submit it for approval by emailing us. We want to help make your event successful event. We want to help you advertise your information believing that the whole community benefits. Bronn Journey CD’s

Jacob’s Well is the Canadian supplier for Bronn Journey. He is a harpist that has been entertaining audiences all over the United States (21 States) and Canada. Tremendously gifted and equally matched with his humorous style he has been a favourite with audiences for over 30 years. His cd’s are some of the most popular and after selling them for over 15 years, Jacob’s Well is privileged to service the Canadian market with Bronn’s quality performances.

Staff

Miles & Lorie White: Miles & Lorie and their oldest son Brennen moved from Winnipeg to the Comox Valley in 1991. After graduating from Providence College, Miles served as an associate pastor at Courtenay Fellowship Baptist Church for 8 years. While living in the Comox Valley, three other children, Caitlyn, Conlan, & Shannon were born. In 1999, they moved to the Okanangan and ministered with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada for 2 ½ years. They returned to the valley in 2002 after being invited to serve as the Book Manager for Jacob’s Well with Charlie & Judi Zerkee. After a two year partnership with Charlie and Judi, they purchased the store in 2007. Lorie, on top of being a full-time mother and homeschooler, does the bookkeeping and works part-time in the store. When Miles is not in the store, he is often travelling around the Comox Valley and the North Island serving as a guest speaker in churches from Port McNeill to Duncan to Ucluelet or performing weddings and other spiritual services.

History

Jacob’s Well originated in a room of a house in Black Creek owned by Helen Wiebe. Later, the “Sunshine Bible Bookstore” relocated to Cliffe Ave. between 4^th & 5^th Street. Thelma Abel opened the store in a little shop, in 1969, after bringing it into Courtenay. The store on Cliffe Ave. carried books, Bibles, cards and some crystal.

Paul and Loretta Jensen bought the store in 1976 and slowly expanded it as they moved to 6^th Street between Cliffe & Duncan Ave in Courtenay. Eventually, they hired some part-time staff. Charlie & Judi Zerkee bought the store in 1986 at the time “when records were beginning to phase out.”

The years the Zerkees owned the store brought a period of tremendous growth. Having a new vision for the store, Charlie and Judi renamed it, “Jacob’s Well” after the story of Jesus meeting the woman at the well in the Gospel of John (4:1-42). Their desire was that the store would be a place where people would drink from the “Living Water”. Having a young family and a desire to move from working up on Mount Washington, Charlie and Judi expanded the book and gift line as they moved the store downtown. For several years Jacob’s Well was located at the top of 5^th St. and Fitzgerald Ave and then to its present location on 274 A – 5^th Street, which they thought was the centre of the commercial activity of Courtenay, much like the original Jacob’s Well would have been. With each move they brought creativity, innovation and stability to the store as they strived to provide the Comox Valley with access to resources for the “Living Water” – Jesus Christ.

Throughout the years, they not only carried over previous staff but hired other staff to keep up with the growing demands of the store. In 2002, Miles White was hired to be the Book Manager for the store after pastoring in the Okanagan. In 2005, Miles and Lorie became partners with Charlie and Judi and then became the sole owners in 2007 after purchasing the remaining half of Jacob’s Well.

It is our desire that the next phase of the life of Jacob’s Well would glorify God as we seek to continue to move with the same kind of vision that started and grew the store. May His grace cause us to continue to move into the business and ministry God intends it to be using our own unique gifts and abilities.
